Floating wind´s second Japanese test

Ideol,with the use of uploading a photo, announced that its second floating offshorewind turbine demonstrator in Japan is ready to towed to sea for testing.

Ideol already has two floating demonstrators, built locally in France andJapan. Ideol”s patented technology is designed to operate with both currentand future large-scale wind turbines.

JIP launch floating wind cable competition

TheCarbon Trust say that one of the challenges facing large-scale floatingoffshore wind farms, is floating submarine cable availability. A studyto support the development of dynamic export cables is currently underway.

The project is being led by BPP Cables and commissioned by the ScottishGovernment and twelve industry partners – EnBW, ENGIE, Eolfi, E.ON, Equinor,Iberdrola, innogy, Kyuden Mirai, ˜rsted, Shell, Vattenfall and Wpd Offshore.

Baroness appointed Chair of Carbon Trust

JuliaKing, Baroness Brown of Cambridge, has been appointed Chair of the CarbonTrust from July 2018. She will take on the role from James Smith,former Chair of Shell UK, who has served in the post since 2011.

MMT finish seabed surveys

MMThas recently completed a geophysical seabed survey and delivered the finalreport for the proposed AQUINDInterconnector offshore cable route.

MMT surveyed a corridor between Portsmouth in the UK and the coastal regionof Dieppe in France. MMT utilised two vessels: M/VFranklin for offshore worksand M/VSeabeam for nearshore works.

Four cables, bundled as two pairs, will be installed along the surveyedroute totalling approximately 190km in length. No major obstacles to thecable route were uncovered during the survey.

Siemens Gamesa inaugura su planta de nacelles para eólica marina

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) ha inaugurado oficialmente su planta de nacelles de Cuxhaven (Alemania), en la que se invertirán unos 200 millones de euros y que generará 850 empleos este año, informó la compañía.
